And so it goes...

Well with Halloween almost here things are moving right along! Gracie's costume in making progress I am so proud of myself for making the entire thing! She loves her wand that I made. Even though I have spent just as much if not more money making the thing but o well I have enjoyed making it. Things are still going well at school. The only time she gets on green it is not for talking it is for something like not sitting in her chair or something so I can't complain too much about that. We had a great Family Fun Day with Daddy Mac and Momma Mac the other day. Gracie's favorite part was painting pumpkins. She actually got an apple in the apple bobbing! I couldn't believe it, with no teeth. She did stick her entire head in the bucket though. He hair was all wet. She has another loose tooth on the bottom, it will fall out any day now. She was so sweet for mine and Chad's birthday's she sang Happy Birthday every day for like a week. Too cute! We took our family picture too, aren't we cute! It is amazing everyday to see what Gracie is learning in school. She comes home making the letters sound and then Chad and I try rhyming with her and spelling. She is pretty good at spelling, maybe she will be better at spelling than me.

Halloween - It's finally decided!

Well she has finally decided for sure about her Halloween costume... The Tooth Fairy! So I have made her a tutu and a wand. I'm still looking for a top and I have to make her a crown thingy. I am really excited that Halloween is on Friday this year. All of you with children know just how stressful it can be to get everywhere you need to be in one night. It's crazy!!! But it is worth it I guess to see her smile.

Well things are going well at school. Gracie's talking has gotten much better! She has been on blue light at least 4 out of 5 days and when she is on green it is not for talking. So I am really proud of her. I took her to the mall last night for her reward. She got 3 pairs of earrings for her treat. Gymnastics is going pretty well too, she seems to really enjoy it and is not too bad.
She is excited about my birthday, she started yesterday wishing me happy birthday, which is fine with me. I like to celebrate for a week anyways... HA! It is really cute.

Santa's Elf on a Shelf has arrived, but i have not given him to her yet, I am waiting for Halloween to be over. If you have not heard of this, it is so cute and I can't wait. I ordered what is called an Elf on A Shelf and the stuffed Elf and a book is shipped to her. The Elf's duties are "Santa has sent this Elf to watch over you" What you do with the Elf is up to you, you can be creative with it. For example the Elf at our house will be in a different spot each morning (he travels through the house @ night watching over us. Since Gracie is going through this "I'm scared" phase where she doesn't want to be alone anywhere in the house I thought it might help. He creates mischif throughout the night like messing up something or turning on the tv or lights or whatever I can come up with.) So I am excited about it.

Busted Lip

Well we now have a busted lip.... She fell face first out of a swing. She has scratches on her nose, chin, forehead, and busted her lip. It was pretty swollen Saturday afternoon when she did it, but it looks MUCH better now.
Things are going ok at school. She was on blue (the best) four out of five days last week, that was the best week so far. and she got on blue today as well so we are off to a good week. She goes back to gymnastics today.
She also came home with a note Friday about a cheer camp they are having at school. She begged me to go, so I signed her up. They get to preform @ half-time of the DJHS vs Mooreville game on Sept. 30th. so that will be fun. She is really excited about it so who knows I might have a little cheerleader on my hands.

A gymnast in the making

Gracie Ann started gymnastics yesterday. She is taking @ ICats, it is all gymnastics and a cheer academy. Gymnastics has changed a lot since I did it! It was an hour FULL of doing repetitions of different moves. She did pretty good for her first day. She LOVED it, she said many times. "This is SO much fun!" She was extremely tired when she got home last night and this morning said that her arms hurt. I told her it was from the 65 hand stands she did yesterday, which is really how many she did (not at one time). So she should be tired and sore. She will go every Monday from 5-6.

Another tooth gone....

Well Gracie Ann lost another tooth. It is the one on the bottom as you can see from the picture above. It has been pretty loose and we tried to pull it over the weekend and decided to just leave it. But she came home from school on Tuesday and had pulled it herself. She said after she ate lunch that she just pulled it out. and that everyone had to come look at it. We put it under her pillow and the tooth fairy brought her $3.00. I was instructed to ask the tooth fairy if she could keep it and take it to her Daddy's like last time so I did such. She asked me what she looked like, "What color was she wearing this time Mommy?" I said pink with blue wings. She asked me this morning if she could put it under her pillow again tonight so she could get some more money. I told her that the tooth fairy would know it was the same tooth, that you could fool her!

School is going OK. After the red light incident last week she is doing much better. She is writing her name better and I can tell the practice we do at home is working. Last week they learned the letter l and o. This week it is the letter g and numbers 6,7,8. She had her first test yesterday.... drum roll please.....100!!!!! I was so proud of her! So things are going well for now.

Update

Well we have made it through 2 weeks of school. They have a "light" system for their behavior, Blue being the best, then green, yellow, and red. Last week she was on Blue for 3 days and green for 2. One of the green days she was talking and the other she threw some paper. Of course she said that someone threw it at her first. But I am pretty happy with that. I knew going into this that she would be a talker. Her teacher is really nice and I have talked to her about it. She did say that it is improving. So so far I can't complain too much. We work on writing her name just about everyday and I can see some good improvement. They do take a nap everyday but I'm not sure that Gracie Ann does because I can tell she is so tired at night. She said the other day "I just rested my bones, I didn't go to sleep!" She still comes home excited and says she loves school. So all is good so far.

So Far So Good

Well we have made it though 3 successful days of Big School so far. She has gotten on the bus for 2 days and gotten off at the right place!!! YEAH! She has been on the blue light (which is the best) for her behavior, so that is good. If she stays on it all week she gets a prize at school and at home so she has a little motivation. She saids that she has "Super Fun!" so things are good.

2nd Day of School

Well her 1st day of school was "Super Fun!" as she said. She said " I made apples, colored, ate lunch, ate a snack, took a nap, and came home!" Now that sounds like a great day to me! She was excited to go back today! Chad took her this morning. We had drilled in her that she has to ride bus #33 today so Chad wrote it on her hand to help her remember. When he pulled into school she was like "There's #33 let me out!" he explained to her that she is to ride the bus this afternoon. But she got out in such a hurry she forgot her backpack and he had to catch her. But she got it and was off running again. So we will see looks like school is going well so far.

1st day of school

Well the 1st day of Kindergarten finally arrived. I woke her up this morning and she was excited and ready to go. She is not a morning person so getting her out of bed is always a challenge, but not this morning! We had picked out her new clothes to wear and packed her lunch and snack the night before so all that was ready. We washed her hair and I braided it. I wore my hair just like that on my first day of school so I wanted her to wear hers like that too. So after the photo session (which she kept saying "Hurry up we are going to be late!") we got in the car. Since we are just right across the street I let her ride up front. She held my hand and said "Mommy please don't cry." (HOW SWEET!) So we got there and i asked her if she wanted me to walk her in. "No momma just pull up there and I will get out." So I pulled up to where the teachers were, they opened the door and before I could blink she was out the door "Bye Momma (as she ran to the door), I know where I am going Mrs. Sheffield's room!" So I didn't even get a kiss! She was off and on her way. Needless to say I tried to be a big girl and not cry like she asked and I didn't. I didn't really have time to think about it. I am very proud of her and that she was so excited and didn't cry. The only experience I've had with Kindergarten was with Casey and that was not pretty so I had prepared myself for the worst, but BOY was I surprised! I have to pick her up in about 30 min. I have thought about her all day and can't wait to hear about how everything went. I'll post more tonight......

Bye Bye tooth

Well we went to the dentist this morning. He was going to pull two tell but only pulled one cause it was just to tramatic. She did really good! They gave her some gas and she was fine until he stuck that needle in the give her the sleepy lip. She screamed and cried! Then after about 5 min he came back and just pulled it right out. I was not prepared for that it was weird, he just pulled it out like he was pulling a weed! After some crying and a trip to wal-mart sponsored by Daddy Mac she is fine. The laughing gas must have kicked in cause she is all wired and can't stop laughing! It is so funny! and of course looking at her I just have to smile. They gave her her tooth in a little treasure chest box.

Only 4 days left

Well this is a BIG week for us! Friday was her last day at the Daycare. She drew Mrs. Charlene and Mrs. Judy a picture. I had it framed and wrote them a nice thank you card. Gracie and her Daddy made cupcakes to take to school. It was more emotional for Mrs. Charlene and myself, we both cried when we left. They have been so good to Gracie Ann (they have had her since she was 18 months). Gracie hugged everyone before we left.
She is really excited about school starting, this morning I told her that it was only 4 days and she smiled and started clapping. I told her that I might cry when I take her to school because I am sad that she is getting big she said, "O Mommy, don't be such a baby! I'll give you a hug and make you feel better. I will be a big girl." Well what could I say to that?
I am more worried about the dentist visit on Wednesday than anything right now. The thought of her not having those two teeth, aw it makes me want to cry! I am going to stay home with her Wednesday, I know it will be traumatic, she doesn't like to see her own blood. I'm trying to prepare her, but.... I told her that Tuesday afternoon we would go buy Popsicles and ice cream. Of course that made her happy.
Well this is an emotional week for me, so keep me in your prayers.

Tooth update

Well looks like Gracie will be loosing her two front teeth sooner than I thought! When she was a baby she bumped her front tooth on something and it has always been a little discolored. Well now it is infected, I took her to the dentist yesterday. He suggested that we pulled BOTH her two front teeth. He said it would look better to pull both of them and they would grow back straighter since they would be growing at the same time. So Wed. the 6th we are pulling them. She will start school with snaggle teeth! I'm not looking forward to it at all! The dentist said he would give her some gas and then numb it. So the tooth fairy will be visiting us next wed night! Don't worry I'll post a picture. He said it would take like a YEAR for them to come back in!!!!AHHHHHHHHH o no!!!!

1st loose tooth

Well we have our 1st loose tooth! It is in the front on the bottom. Actually we have two, one of the top too but it is not near as loose as the one on the bottom. She keeps wiggling it so maybe it will come out soon. She is excited about the tooth fairy. Hm, how much is the tooth fairy worth these days? I used to get a quarter, I'm sure that is not the case anymore.

Only 12 days left!!!

OK this is getting serious! We only have 12 days left!!! Mommy is not doing well.... We did find out who her teacher is and it is the one that I wanted. Mrs. Julie Sheffield. We got to church with her so that is really good. She is sweet and I know Gracie is in good hands with her.

Just have to share this... last Sunday in Church our sermon was about prayer and how we should pray. One of the examples was how children pray. They pray so genuinely and honestly. I knew EXACTLY what he meant! Dad and I looked at each other and started laughing. When Gracie Ann is asked to pray at the table she looks around and thanks God for everything in sight. Including the plates, forks, the sunshine, and the whole world. She would go on as long as we would let her probably. He gave some examples of how little kids pray but I must tell you all of one that my little Gracie Ann said. Sunday night, as we always do we said "Now I lay me, down to sleep..." I decided to ask her if there was anything else she wanted to pray for, well.... after about 2 or 3 minutes of pray for everyone she could think of and the birds, trees, supper, and Mommy letting her watch tv longer she said... "O yeah and Dear God I want to pray for: Mommy what's that man's name that's our cousin at school?" I said Mr. Kevin Brown?"(we had been talking about school again that day) she said. "Yeah that's it, Dear God I pray for him and that I don't get in trouble cause I don't want to go to his office. Amen" It was SO cute!

Momma Mac took Gracie Ann shopping for school clothes. She has her on style that she likes for sure. They got some really cute outfits. I found some great deals at Target on some summer stuff and since it stays hot until Thanksgiving I thought what the heck. She loves all of her new clothes, we even had a fashion show on Friday. She tried a lot of them on and modeled them for me. We also have the backpack. We are going to use the one that Aunt Cassi and Uncle Casey got her for Christmas. It has her initials on it so it is perfect.

What?

Good Morning Everyone!
I started this site cause I want to keep everyone updated on things that Gracie Ann does during her year in Kindergarten. I try to e-mail everyone pictures, but sometimes I forget people and this way I won't do that. Plus I only have to do it once. So.... her goes....
As part of her "big school orientation" process I created her a "Count down to Big School Calendar". She kept asking "Mommy, how many days til big school"? So I made her a calendar and she gets to mark the days off the calendar each day. So on this day 17 days before big school starts we are off and running! We have been to the school and taken a tour. She was excited but seamed like, "What's the big deal?" We have also bought school supplies. She has taken all the pencils out and put her erasers on them (she didn't even know what an eraser does, but she had to have them.)
I have found someone to keep her afterschool. She goes to church with them and the lady has a little boy that will be in Gracie's class. She will ride the bus to her house then I will pick her up after work. She is excited.
